Hot Sauce Reviews: Boston Market Gets Saucy With Five New Sauces

In an effort to provide its customers with more ways to spice up and experiment with its signature rotisserie chicken and other entrees, national restaurant chain Boston Market has launched a “Get It Saucy” promotion by adding a new line of five complimentary sauces.

To me, there’s nothing better than having multiple options to add flavor to your fare, and I took full advantage of the promotion.

I started out with the mild sauces and worked my way up the heat ladder.

First up was the “Island Mojo,” a Caribbean-inspired sauce with garlic, citrus and extra virgin olive oil. I love anything with garlic, and this sauce blended well with the chicken’s natural flavor. Being on the sweet side, the sauce was not desired in great quantity.

Next was the “Zesty Barbecue,” a mild barbecue sauce with molasses, brown sugar and pit spices mixed to balance sweet and spicy flavors. Just like most barbecue sauces, this concoction added some zing to the chicken without overpowering my taste buds. I even found it to be tasty on mashed potatoes.

Third on my list was the “Sweet Thai Chili Garlic,” a traditional and “medium hot” Thai dip with chilies, rice wine vinegar and sugar. For people looking to bump up their heat adventure, this sauce will satisfy your fiery journey. It was perfect on chicken and even supplied some zip to my creamed spinach.

For fans of cayenne pepper’s notorious kick, “Frank’s Sweet Heat,” the popular Red Hot wing sauce made with the famed pepper, red peppers, tomatoes, honey and molasses–will not disappoint. Although delicious on chicken, the sauce’s medium heat tested my heat tolerance. I used it sparingly, but still enjoyed its heat and sweet taste. Others, however, may want to pour on the sauce in amounts to challenge their tongues.

“The Honey Habañero,” a medium hot blend of one of world’s hottest peppers, honey and a Southwestern spice profile, was the most potent of the five sauces. Its heat didn’t stop me from sampling a tiny bit on my chicken, which definitely worked well with the poultry.

At the moment, the new sauces aren’t available for purchase at Boston Market. So you’ll just have to venture in and savor every moment you’re there.

Hot Sauce stains implicate man in robbery

William Horton should have been a dry rub man.

After a burglary of cologne, sunglasses and a generator last week left a Memphis apartment ransacked with several broken hot sauce bottles, police scoured the neighborhoods looking for the thief.

They found Horton, at right, and arrested him because he was wearing clothes stained with hot sauce.

He faces charges of theft and aggravated burglary.

Delicious new hot sauce recipe: Mushroom Pancake Salad

Fans of hot sauce can only use their favorite sauces on wings, ribs, eggs, dips, etc. so many times before, well, they start getting a little bored.

Thankfully this recipe from the Baltimore Sun’s B’More Green blog gives hot sauce lovers a new, tasty alternative: Mushroom Pancake Salad.

It only requires a teaspoon of hot sauce, but the tastes of savory mushroom pancakes, fresh vegetables and the Greek yogurt makes a mouth water just by mention alone. We’re thinking a garlicky or herb-based sauce would be best as something very peppery might overpower the dish. Take a look at the Marie Sharp’s line or the herb-based Green Bandit sauces for inspiration.

Talk show host drinks hot sauce for charity

Actress/TV talk show host Bonnie Hunt chugged a bottle of hot sauce to raise “a quick few hundred dollars” for a research hospital earlier this month, entertainment blog Aceshowbiz.com reported.

The actress, best known for roles in “Beethoven,” “Jumanji” and “Jerry Maguire,” was challenged by her staff and producer to first drink from and then finish the hot sauce, the brand name of which was not reported by the blog. Hunt accepted and completed the challenge to raise funds for Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center at Northwestern University just outside Chicago. She matched the amount raised by her staff, the blog reported.

While she also threw milk in her face to cool off afterward, Sweat ‘N Spice is thinking her sauce of choice was no stronger than two peppers (on the SNS Scale). If she tried three pepper hot sauce or four pepper hot sauce, ASB.com would be posting her obit.
